<h1>Now</h1>
<p>
Welcome to my "now" page, which I'll be using to tell you how I'm currently doing,
and what's currently going on in this season of my life. At some point, I'll probably begin putting my "now"
updates on a separate archive page. For now, expect a long list here.
</p>
<p>
You might ask, why not just make blog posts? My blog posts tend to contain more thoughts and ideas, as well
as technical details of projects I'm working on for all of my fellow nerds out there.
</p>
<p>
As I continue to distance myself from social media, I'd still like to provide folks
a way to see what I'm up to, especially if we haven't talked in some time.
</p>
<p>
The concept of this comes from <a href="https://nownownow.com/about">nownownow.com</a>, which I found
interesting as soon as I found it. If you've broke up with social media and want to share life updates,
make your own <a href="https://dbolger.dev/now.html">now</a> page!
</p>
<h2>December 2025</h2>
<p>
Welcome to my first "now" update!
</p>
<p>
Right now, I'm slowing down for the winter in terms of my endurance training.
While the weather is gloomy,
I'd like to spend more time focusing on projects at home that I've had on the backburner during the summer season.
Those projects include distancing from social media, writing some programs for fun, reading more books and blogs, quitting doomscrolling,
and doing more fulfilling things with friends and family.
</p>
<p>
Since March, I've been super into cycling and running. This past season of endurance training I completed three 5K races, one triathlon, and one gravel cycling race.
My most recent 5K race was the turkey trot. This year, I set the goal of completing it in
less than 20 minutes, and I'm happy to say I did it in 19 minutes and 15 seconds. My pace was 6:12/mi. The next goal
is to complete a 5K with a sub-6 minute mile pace.
</p>
<p>
I am currently still employed at O'Reilly Auto Parts writing software for them. Still working on the point-of-sale,
currently working on a project to improve performance and reliability when we save a customer's invoice data.
I've learned a lot about multi-threading this year, and I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to
be able to apply what I've learned into making things better.
</p>
<p>
Life is good - cold, but good. Some things could be better, but they could always be.
I miss riding my bike outdoors, and riding indoor on the stationary one isn't nearly as fun.
I realize though that this season of life is temporary, short, and will be complete before I even realize it.
I'd really like to make the most out of it though so I can be my best self for this next year. I may slow down on running and
cycling in this upcoming year. Mainly so I can enjoy a wider net of things in life, which I'm currently experimenting with.
</p>
<p>
Hopefully moving into a house this spring so I don't have to walk up stairs to be home. I've enjoyed the apartment life,
but it's starting to weigh on me. Fortunately my landlord hasn't been incredibly difficult, but I'd like to live somewhere
that feels more accomodative, especially to my cycling habits.
</p>
<p>
Anywho, that's my little update. Shoot me an email if you want to hear from me!
